Reflection from Dale's Cone of Experience

       According to Edgar Dale, the cone of experiences was simply design as a visual aid, a types of audio-visual materials that helps develop the learning process of the learners. It composed of eleven stages starting from concrete experiences and become more abstract as it reach to the highest peak. When I looked at Dale's Cone of Experiences it made me realize that there can be different kinds of model that can be used by teacher to reach the learners, depending on the learners need and the lesson that will discuss. When I read this model, I learned that in every arrangement in the cone is not based on it's difficulty but it based on abstraction.
         I thought that in every cone of experiences would be too easy to apply when we relate it to the lessons that will be discuss. However I realized that there are certain guidelines,rules and tips to be followed and applied. This model emphasizes the use of teaching strategies, as what I've learned according to Edgar Dale, the more senses that are involved the more and the better the learning will be but it does not mean that the concrete experience is the only effective experience that educators should use in transferring knowledge to the learners. I found out that the level of the cones are interrelated. Thus, this model emphasizes a balance in each level must be achieved by the learners. In order to help each learners in their holistic development.
        After all I read and understand each levels of Dale's Cone of Experiences. I have learned that as a future educator it is imperative to know the different cones because in this way we will be able to know the guidelines and strategies of the different cones. This cone of experiences is a great help for teachers who have diverse learners because it enables them to use a wide range of tools from the highest peak of the cone and many others. From the cone of experience it also helps the learners to enhance their knowledge, skills,and abilities, and it facilitates the learners to learn efficiently. Indeed, provide a concretness of various kinds of audio-visual media, it purports to inform viewers based on how they encountered information.
